Original Item: The first British Percussion Military Rifle to succeed the famous Baker Flintlock Rifle of the Napoleonic era was originally intended to have eleven-groove rifling

It is complete with sling swivels and is dated "1883" it may have been intended for Camel mounted troops in Algeria

After a cursory cleaning it was found that there was some stamped printing on the top side of the brass grip which we read as:-
