Captain Ernest D. Shacklett was a medical officer and Surgeon in the 2nd Battalion, 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. After the war Shacklett became the Director of the VA Medical Hospital in Coatsville, Pennsylvania until his death on April 27, 1979. Capt. Shacklett was with the 502nd jumping into France 6 hours prior to the D Day invasion and was Wounded in Action (broken femur) in Belgium
