Interestingly this was not intended for the ROYAL NAVY, but for the use of the ARMY being built of Brown Bess Style mounts not of the Naval pattern. This is a relatively early blunderbuss, dating to around 1793, when there was great concern in England that the awful and bloody Revolution in France might come to ENGLAND as well. Fortunately that did not happen, but war with France still broke out and then followed the
